About Northwerk

A development-first consultancy for Central Wisconsin businesses that need more than IT support.

Why Northwerk exists

Central Wisconsin businesses deserve better than overpriced consultancies that send junior staff, or MSPs that can't build anything beyond a ticket queue.

Northwerk was founded to fill that gap: a single partner who can assess your infrastructure, build the applications your business actually needs, and turn your data into something you can act on. No hand-offs between departments. No translation layers between “the IT guy” and “the developer.”

One person who does both, because that's how the best solutions get built.

About Cody

I'm Cody King. I grew up in rural Central Wisconsin, and I've spent my career solving technology problems for businesses in this part of the state and beyond.

I started in IT and ended up managing infrastructure for a multi-location dealer group, building cybersecurity compliance from nothing, managing hundreds of endpoints, and learning what happens when an organization has no IT strategy. When that company was acquired by a national enterprise, I helped scale operations across dozens of sites, led multi-site acquisition integrations, and saw firsthand what good infrastructure looks like at volume, and what happens when it's handed off to vendors who don't deliver.

Along the way I moved into development. Production data platforms, enterprise portals, ERP integrations, and EDI pipelines, building the systems that businesses actually run on. I've worked as a manager leading teams and projects, and I've worked as an individual contributor writing the code myself. I've done both because I wanted to understand every layer of how a solution comes together.

That breadth isn't an accident. Modern technology problems don't stay in one lane.

A reporting system that doesn't work is usually a data problem. A data problem is usually an ERP configuration problem. An ERP configuration problem is usually an infrastructure problem. The best solutions come from someone who's worked in all of those layers. And I have.

I've always wanted to run my own business. After years of building solutions for other companies across multiple industries, Northwerk is the logical next step. A way to take everything I've learned and put it to work directly for the businesses that need it most.

What makes Northwerk different

One partner, full stack.

Most companies split infrastructure, applications, and data across separate vendors. Each one sees their piece of the puzzle and nobody connects the dots. I've watched that model fail: MSPs that can't build, developers who don't understand the infrastructure their code runs on, consultancies that hand you a report and disappear. Northwerk exists because one person who understands all the layers builds better solutions than three vendors who don't talk to each other.

Enterprise experience, SMB focus.

I've managed IT at enterprise scale, led multi-site acquisition integrations, and rebuilt ERP systems that major consultancies couldn't fix. That experience doesn't disappear because the client has 50 employees instead of 5,000. You get the same rigor and the same quality of thinking, without the overhead, the junior staff rotation, or the six-figure retainer.

Local. Accountable. Founder-led.

I'm based in the Marshfield–Neillsville area. I grew up here. When you hire Northwerk, you work directly with me, not an account manager, not a subcontractor, not someone reading a script. I pick up the phone, I know your systems, and I'm accountable for the outcome. That's not a selling point. It's just how I work.
